John "Jack" Aspden, 76, of Lewellen, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, in his home.

Jack was born March 1, 1939, in Mitchell, NE, the son of Warren and Velma (Donovan) Aspden. John attended school in Alliance.

In 1957 Jack was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Lois Loree Kingry. The couple moved to Denver where Jack was employed as a supervisor at Excel Energy. He retired after 38 years in 1994.

In 1995 the couple built a new home at Cedar View near Lake McConaughy and continued to reside there.

He enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, and working cattle with the Lobner family. Jack was known as the go-to handy man of the neighborhood.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers: Bernard, Bobby and Gene.

Survivors include his wife Lois Aspden of Lewellen, two sons: Rick (Laurie) Aspden of Broomfield, CO, and Jeff (Sherryl) Aspden of Tracyton, WA; Two sisters: Gladys (Gordon) Dughman of Sterling, CO and Joan (Jerry) Reeves of Seward; two brothers: Bill (Pam) Aspden of Berthoud, CO and Mike (Mary) Aspden of Alliance; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family chose cremation. The Memorial Service will be Tuesday, November 24, at 11 a.m. in the Draucker Funeral Home. The Rev. Chuck Rager of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. A memorial has been established in his memory.
