Larry Woken, Jr.

Larry Woken, Jr., 86, of Ogallala and formerly of Bushnell, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Larry was born August 13, 1929, in Aneta, North Dakota, to Ethel (Bruhn) and Larry Woken, Sr. After his father's death, the family moved to Minnesota in the early 1930's. Larry moved to Nebraska in 1954.

He married Marilyn Christensen of Bushnell in December, 1956, and together they had one son Jim. The couple later divorced.

Larry was a self-employed welder most of his life, but also had various other jobs.

He later married Karen Franks. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends and family.

Survivors include his son Jim Woken of Ogallala; sister Clarice Willis of Ukiah, CA, and grandsons: Cole (Lori) Hodges of Ogallala, Craig Woken of Kearney, Casey Woken (Chelsey Calvin) of Norton, KA. and three great-grandsons Kaleb, Austin, and Corbin Hodges of Ogallala and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Larry Woken, Sr. and his mother Ethel and her husband John Gustafson.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Ogallala.
