Viola M. (Chistensen) Cochran

Viola M. Cochran, 93, of Ogallala and formerly of Lewellen, died Friday, December 2, 2016, at Indian Hills Healthcare Community.

Viola was born August 7, 1923, at Big Springs, NE. She was the third of seven children born to Ole B. and Olina (Leth) Christensen.

Viola was united in marriage to R. Bruce Cochran on May 15, 1940 in Oshkosh. They made their home northwest of Lewellen, where they farmed and ranched.

In November of 1970 Viola moved to Lewellen after Bruce's death in June.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, five children, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her son Steve (Vicki) Cochran of Cozad; grandson Jason (Tara) Cochran of McCook; granddaughter Samantha Cochran of Roseland; great-grandson Aiden Sommer of Roseland; sister Leola Starr of Santa Clara, CA; along with extended family and friends.

The family chose cremation and a private burial will be held later at the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen. A memorial has been established in Viola's name to the United Methodist Church of Lewellen.  Online condolences may be sent to by signing the Guest Book.
