Arlene May Farmer McElhinney, 87, passed away on March 21, 2018 at Linden Court in North Platte. She was born April 9, 1930 to Lon Carroll and Olive( Harshfield) Farmer. Her mother passed away when she was five years old and Arlene and her brother, Lloyd were raised by their maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Harshfield. Arlene grew up on their ranch North of Sutherland. Arlene attended grade school at District 60 in McPherson County and graduated High School from UNSA Curtis in 1946. Arlene taught rural schools for three years after graduation.
Arlene married James Huber and to that union their son Mick was born. She worked several years at Brown-Harano Studio in North Platte and several years at Smyth Studio in Englewood, Colorado.
Arlene married Robert McElhinney in 1966 and they were married for forty-seven years . She was a member of the Arthur Baptist Church . Arlene enjoyed oil painting, bowling, sewing, music, her son, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. Arlene had several friends that she considered priceless treasures.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Janice Huber, one granddaughter Dana Boyce; one Grandson Dustin (Laura) Huber; her pal and great grandson, J.J Boyce; her two sweet Great Granddaughters Sami Boyce and Julian Huber; her youngest Great Grandson, Colton Gaede; one sister- in-law Ruth Farmer; one niece Roslyn (Jim) Shaffer; one nephew Lemoyne (Sara) Farmer; and two cousins, Sandra Nelson and Cecelia (John) Harshfield.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, her mother, her son, her brother, her grandparents, her uncle, aunts, cousins and many Friends.
Services will be held on Saturday March 24, at 2pm in Arthur Nebraska at Arthur Baptist Church with Pastor Blake Wilkes officiating. Visitation will be Friday March 23 from 2-5pm in the Arthur Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery in Arthur Nebraska.
A memorial has been established for the Arthur Baptist Church and the Arthur Community Weight Room. Online condolences may be sent by signing the guest book at Drauckerfuneralhome.com where the service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
