Barbara Armstrong, 81, of Brule passed away Wednesday May 2, 2018 in Julesburg, CO at the Sedgwick County Memorial Nursing Home.
Barbara was born December 30, 1936 to James and Hazel (Anderson) Driefolt in Paxton. Barbara and her family moved South of Big Springs and she attended high school in Big Springs till she graduated in 1954.
Barbara married her high school sweetheart Philip Armstrong on September 24, 1955. They were married in the Big Springs Methodist Church. Barb and Phil made their home southeast of Big Springs where they farmed for 62 years.
Barbara belonged to numerous clubs. She was an avid gardener. Barbara’s hobbies included canning, cooking, sewing clothes, and walking. She loved her family, grandchildren and her dogs.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Charles Driefholt, one daughter- in- law Jeannie Armstrong and one grandson Jon Armstrong. Survivors include her husband Philip Armstrong of Brule; one son Alan (Nikki) Armstrong of Brule; two daughters Cindy (Barry) Walker of Big Springs, and Dianne (Steve) Anderson of Lander WY. Two sisters Margret Howard of Ogallala and Doris (Duane) Buss of Sarben. Nine grandchildren, Jim (Kristie) Armstrong of Columbus, Elizebeth (Jeremy) Simpson of Parker, CO, Sarah (Chris) Kurz of Kearney, Matthew Walker of Big Springs, Josh (Ashton) Anderson of Lander WY, Jake (Vashti) Anderson of Boulder, WY, Andy (Brooks) Kemper of Arvada, CO, Alison Deems of Northglenn, CO and Ian (Laila) Kemper of Beaverton, OR. 16 great-grandchildren, Maddy, Elijah and IsaBelle Armstrong, Jack and Cole Simpson, Isabel and Teague Kurz, Mason and Natalie Anderson, Bentley, and Braylee Anderson, Drake Walker, Nathan and Tyler Deems, Dylan and Taryn Kemper The family has chosen cremation.
The memorial service will be Saturday May 5, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church of Ogallala at 10:00 a.m with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Ogallala Cemetery.
The service will be live streamed from the Methodistchurchogallala.com as well as from our website by clicking on the Watch Live button. A memorial is established to the First United Methodist church.
Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is entrusted with arrangements.
