Daniel Joseph Kessen age 57 of Lewellen, passed away on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at his home northeast of Lewellen, NE.
Dan was born on February 22, 1961 in Dodge City, Kansas to Lawrence and Carolyn (Roberts) Kessen. He attended Spearville High School in Kansas and graduated in 1979. He married Cheri Hensley on March 25, 1983 in Ford, KS. After working a variety of jobs in Kansas, Dan and Cheri moved to the Nebraska Sandhills where they worked for Myron and Kay Peterson. In 1994, the two of them moved back to Kansas and spent almost a year in the Spearville area before returning to the Peterson Ranch, North of Oshkosh. In 2009, they relocated to their present home on the Given and Carolyn Smith Ranch northeast of Lewellen.
Dan is survived by his wife Cheri of Lewellen, step-father Given Smith of Lewellen, 2 sisters, Marjorie (Keith) Spence of Eudora, KS, Jeanette (John) Gunkel of Spearville, KS, 2 brothers, Dennis Kessen of KS, Tim (Shelly) Kessen of Rancho Murieta, CA, mother-in-law Donna Hensley of Ford, KS, 3 sister in laws, Debra Simon of Ford, KS, Brenda (Curt) White of Flippin, AR, Judi (Steve) Lukens of Medicine Lodge, KS, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Patrick Kessen.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 22, from 9-6, family will greet friends from 4-6 at the Draucker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m at the Garden County Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Building. With Pastor Matt Waitley of the New Hope Church of Ogallala officiating. The Service will be live streamed and may be seen by clicking the Watch Live button.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Lewellen.
Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala has been entrusted with arrangements.
