Dorothy Marie Sexson age 95 of Ogallala passed away Saturday, February 24th, at Indian Hills Manor. Dorothy was the daughter of Walter W. and Mary (Reutzel) Nutt. She was born September 14, 1922 in Madrid. Dorothy grew up on the farm and attended Country school and then graduated from Madrid High School in 1940.

Charles "Charlie" Laird and Dorothy were married on June 1, 1941 in Palisade, and from this union two children Larry and Deanna were born. They lived on a farm in Hayes Center. Charlie passed away at a young age on July 3, 1951. Dorothy and two young children moved to Ogallala where she worked at Goodalls.

During this time Dorothy worked at Goodalls, TRW, Montgomery Wards and the Holiday Inn. Her last and most important job was babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her, and she took care of all of her grandchildren at one time or another.

Dorothy loved to travel, read, camp, fish, polka dance, cook, bake, do crafts and tend her flower and vegetable gardens. She was especially fond of her roses. She was self-taught to play the piano and the harmonica, she loved music.

Dorothy was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Palisade and the Ogallala First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Earl and Bob, four sisters Blanche, Grace, Winifred "Mae", and Betty; and two infant grandsons, Patrick Laird and Kent Lomme.
