Needa Jacqueline "Jackie" Spellmeyer, age 83, of Ogallala, began her journey with the Lord on Thursday, March 7, 2019. She was a resident at the Indian Hills Manor Nursing Home for the past 2 1/2 years where she battled a condition known as Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy. Jackie was also a stroke and breast cancer survivor.
Jackie was born November 24, 1935, in Long Beach, CA to Solon and Needa Boyd.
She moved to Ogallala in 1979 with her husband Marlin and family. She first worked as a Dental Assistant before she and her husband acquired J & M Square Dance Apparel, which she managed successfully for 33 years. She was well known in the region for teaching square dancing, clogging, round dancing, line dancing, and operating the traveling retail apparel shop. Jackie also called square and round dances with her husband throughout the central mid-western region.
Jackie's hobbies centered around dancing, traveling with her shop, camping, and searching for antiques. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed working on crafts. She delighted in cooking, baking and making family celebrations special.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother, John Knight.
Survivors include her husband, Marlin Spellmeyer, of Ogallala; 2 daughters, Gayle Griffin, of Pueblo, CO; Tiffany (Tom) DiMartino, of Erie, CO; 2 sons, John Bradeen, of Bull Shoals, AR; Ken (Debra) Spellmeyer, of Lincoln, NE; 5 grandchildren, Ashleigh Griffin, TSgt Michael "Kaleb" Griffin, USAF, Kylee Schoen, Cassandra Spellmeyer, Derek DiMartino; 6 great-grandchildren, Bianca and Alexa Griffin, Kenley Schoen, Kace Schoen, Catarina Griffin, Tyler Griffin; 1 niece, Danna Bare, of Keene, New Hampshire; 1 sister, Barbara Miller; and 1 brother, Joseph Knight, both of Pueblo, CO.
A register book signing with the family will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the New Hope Church, with Pastor Eric Wait officiating.
Interment of Cremains are set for a later date.
