Lloyd Elmer Lust,87, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in Indian Hills nursing home with family by his side.
Lloyd was born May 29, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Melvin and Mildred (Hiland) Lust. He married Barbara Louise Harding on June 17, 1950, in Iowa City, Iowa, just days aftergraduating from high school.
They moved to Colorado in 1952 where they lived for 18 years. They then returned to Iowa, next Minnesota, then back to Colorado and retiring in Ogallala in 2005.
He owned a cabin in Sargents,Colorado, for many years. He was an advid hunter, fisherman, camper, dirt bike rider and a snowmobile rider in the mountains around Sargents. He taught Grandchildren how to ride dirt bikes so he could take them with him on rides.
His greatest love in life was flying. He obtained his pilots license in the late 1960's. He owned his own plane and loved taking family up for a ride. His favorite companions for flying were his pets. One year he flew Barbara and himself to Arizona and California for vacation. While in Arizona he flew a glider.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 68 years. Three daughters, Vicki (Marty) Weidenbacher of Ogallala: Karen (special friend Mike) Hacker, of Denver, Colorado: Julie (Michael) Bailey of Niwot, Colorado; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers: Norm Lust of New Virginia, Iowa; Ron Lust of Truro, Iowa. Two sister-in-laws: Lynda (Joseph) Perring of New Port Beach, California; Cheryl (Chuck) McDowell of Ogallala. Many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2 pm, in the United Church of Christ First Congregational Church in Ogallala. Rev Lisa Hadler & Rev Linda Martin Officiating.
Memorial has been established to the United Church of Christ First Congregational. Committal of Cremains will be held at a later date. The services will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Draucker Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
