Marjorie Neill Obituary

Marjorie Joan (Perkins) Neill age 85 of Ogallala passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her home. Marjorie Joan Neill was born March 20, 1933 in Eckert, Colorado to Orval and Grace (Chambers) Perkins. She attended elementary school in Eckert, Colorado and High School in Cedaredge, Colorado until graduating in 1951.

Marge received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from The Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing at the University of Denver on December 23, 1954. Marge was a nurse in several hospitals in Colorado and the State Hospital in Nevada, Missouri.

On November 6, 1955, she married Edward Gale Neill in Eckert, Colorado. Marge and Gale were married for 46 years.

When the Neill family moved to Deer Trail Colorado in 1977 there was not a hospital close by for Marge to find employment, so she saw it as an opportunity to try something new. Marge took a job driving the Deer Trail High School Vocational Tech students to Aurora, Colorado and obtained her Cosmetology License while waiting for the students. She opened her own hair salon and called it Marge's Beauty Salon. She operated her salon for five years until they moved to Greeley Colorado in 1983. Marge then continued her Nursing career at Fair Acres Nursing Home in Greeley.

In 1999, Mr. and Mrs. Neill moved to Lake McConaughy in Ogallala to be close to their family. In 2002 Marge's husband Gale passed away. They enjoyed their time on the lake. After Gale passed away Marge moved into the town of Ogallala. In 2003 she began volunteering at the Keith County Senior Center three days a week and she continued with this until her death. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Senior Center and the card games in the afternoons following her shift. At the center she met many wonderful people and developed several close friendships.

Mrs. Neill enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She spent many afternoons and evenings attending baseball, basketball, football and volleyball events. She loved to support her grandkids and their teams. Marge's hobbies included gardening, playing cards, reading, volunteering and computer activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; her son Gregory Neill in 2005; and her brother Donald and his wife Ann Perkins; and sister in law Fern and her husband Charlie Neill.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Lori) Neill of Yuma, CO. and Todd (Julie) Neill of Ogallala; Eight grandchildren, Matt (Kelsey) Owens of Champion, Kimberly (Mark) Cothren of Washington, Josh Neill of Denver, CO, Jacqie( Trent) Monk and Kelsie (Jamie) Unger all of Yuma, CO, Trent Neill of Cheyenne, WY, Trevor(Lindy) Neill of Fort Collins, CO and Ty Neill of Hastings; Nine Great Grandchildren, Payton, Paige and Bo Owens, Achtonn, Finnley, Miles and Moses Monk, Arlo and Harvin Unger; and two nieces, Brenda Perkins and Beth (Rod) Meyers both of Delta CO; and two nephews, David Schranck and Paul (Virginia) Schranck both of Durango, CO.
