William "Jack" Jackson Ringer

June 8, 1934 ~ January 12, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Jack Ringer, 82, longtime Ogallala resident, died Thursday, January 12, 2017, in the Ogallala Community Hospital.

William Jackson Ringer was born June 8, 1934 in Preston County, West Virg., the son of William H. and Ivie J. (Kelley) Ringer. Jack received his schooling through eighth grade at a country school in Preston County.

Jack attended high school in Bruceton Mills, West Virg., graduating in 1952. Jack entered the US Army on January 3, 1957 and served until December 16, 1958. He then moved to Overton, Nebr. where he farmed.

In 1962 Jack moved to Ogallala, Nebr. where he was employed by Ogallala Electronics as a machinist for thirty four years. Jack retired in 1997.

On September 21, 1973 Jack was united in marriage to Marlene J. Miller. The couple continued to make their home in Ogallala.

He was a member of the Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School several years and was active in church activities. Jack was an active member of the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Dept. since 1964. He was a member of the RSVP.

His hobbies included yard work and spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Marlene, and brother-in-law Roy Prinkey.

Survivors include his children Michelle (Lennie) Collins and Mitchell (Anita) Ringer, all of Ogallala; and Kenneth (Deb) Ringer of Omaha; one sister Betty Prinkey of Bruceton Mills, West Virg.; two sisters-in-law: Connie (Larry) Brixius of Milliken, Colo. and Darlene Porter of Evans, Colo. and eight grandchildren:  Doug (Jessica) Ringer and children Joseph, Sonja, and Sophia of Kansas City, MO; Kenny, Jr. (Erica) Ringer and children Adrian, Hanna, Maliyah and Kenna , of Omaha; Jennifer Collins (fiancee Jesse Casillas) and children Jaydon, Jace, Anthony, and Andrew of Midland, TX; Zachory (wife Montana) Ringer and children Colton, Riatta, and Sedar of Ogallala; Trey Hilliard, III. and his son I.V. of Omaha; Lindsey (Joe) Wyzenski and children Brody and Bailey of Omaha; John Brown and children Maegan, Kaitlynn, and Carson of Brule; and Kylee (Joshua) Mehdinia of Beatrice.

The visitation will be Monday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m., Mountain Time, in the Ogallala Church of Christ. Bill Lewis and Bobby Brueggeman will officiate.

Interment is in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell at 2:30 p.m. Central Time, with military honors by the Keith County Veterans Organization.
