Betty J. Benjamin

Betty Jane Sieckmann Benjamin, age 93, of North Platte, NE, passed away, Monday, March 23, 2020 at Linden Court in North Platte. 

Betty was born in Ohiowa, NE on October 8, 1926, to Omer and Mollie (Luttich) Schroll. After graduation from Ohiowa High School, Betty attended Mary Lanning School of Nursing where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree. She later obtained a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska. As a nurse she worked in several hospitals in the Nebraska area. Betty worked for 23 1/2 years as a nursing instructor for Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE until her retirement in 1990. 

After retirement, Betty moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she resided for approximately 20 years. Because of health issues, she moved back to Nebraska in 2013, making her home in North Platte.

Betty's most enjoyable hobby was reading. Even as she grew older, she had a passion for learning and would spend endless hours reading medical publications. While living in Lincoln and Scottsdale, Betty volunteered to help with a variety of church activities. She also loved to bake and dance. 

Betty was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Brule, NE and the Nebraska Alumni Association. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Duane K. Sieckmann and Weston Benjamin; and son-in-law, Dr. Jeff Robbins.

Betty is survived by; 2 daughters; Janie Robbins, of Bristol, TN; Vicki (Tom) Spahn, of Brule; grandchildren; Jason (Heather) Robbins, Jonathon (Martha) Robbins, Jamie Goold Fitzpatrick, Jennifer (Eric) Gonzalez, Aaron Goold; step-grandchildren; Meredith Robbins, Ashley Wilson, Stephanie (Andy) Colgate, Tamera (Casey) Fosher, David (Ashley) Spahn, and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (M.T.), Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the St. John's Lutheran Church of Brule with Pastor Jon Dickmander officiating. 

Interment will be held, Monday, August 24, 2020 in the Ohiowa Cemetery in Ohiowa, Nebraska.
