Clara Kayser Obituary

Clara E. Kayser, 94, was received into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 15, 2023, in Lakewood, Colorado.

Clara was born on March 7, 1928, in Sugar City, Colorado, the daughter of Conrad and Emma Grasmick.  As a child, Clara excelled in school, loved to run and was an integral part of farm life.  In 1946, Clara graduated from Sugar City High School.  Her family then moved to Denver where she attended Central Business College.  She was employed as a secretary and stenographer for Gano-Downs and McKesson & Robbins in downtown Denver.  She later relocated with her parents to Greeley, Colorado.  Within this time, she also met the love of her life, Dale C. Kayser, of Golden Colorado.  They were married on March 13, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood.  This loving union lasted for more than 56 years.

Dale and Clara made their home in Akron, Colorado, where Dale was part owner of the Gambles Hardware Store.  Clara was a homemaker and mother to their four children who were all born in Akron.  In 1963, they made their home in Julesburg, Colorado, where Dale was the sole owner of the Gambles Hardware Store.  Clara was the primary bookkeeper at the store and relished waiting on customers.  Everyone coming into the store really enjoyed Clara’s engaging personality where she had the reputation that she could “sell the paint off the walls”.
A dedicated Christian, Clara was very active in the Lutheran Churches in the communities where they lived.  She participated in Ladies Aid and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  She also taught Sunday School for many, many years when living in Julesburg.  Clara was also actively involved in her children’s education in Julesburg and enjoyed being part of the Julesburg PTA along with proudly being a band parent.

In 1979, the Kaysers sold their business and moved to Tempe, Arizona, where they really embraced retirement, spending winters in Arizona and summers at their beloved Lake McConaughy in Nebraska.  In 1988, the couple decided to relocate permanently east of Lemoyne, Nebraska, living on the north side of Lake McConaughy.  Dale and Clara continued to stay active and donated much of their time to the Lutheran Church in Ogallala, delivered Meals on Wheels to those in need and volunteered at the Welcome Center located south of Ogallala, near Interstate 80.  Upon Dale’s passing in 2005, Clara moved to Littleton, Colorado, to be closer to her loving family.

Clara is survived by three of her children, Dale Kayser Jr. (Trudy) of Sparks, NV, Crystal Frank (Rudy) of Littleton, CO, and Carrie Hale (Dan) of Scottsdale, AZ. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her daughter, Diana Kayser, and her grandson, Trevor Kayser.

Private graveside services will be held at Ash Hollow Cemetery.
