Dorvan E. Johnson

Dorvan E. Johnson, age 92, of Ogallala, NE, passed away, Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.   
 
Dorvan was born September 17, 1928 in Kit Carson County, CO to Tom and Grace (Hall) Johnson. In 1935 the family moved to Pawnee County where he attended school. 
 
Mr. Johnson worked on the family farm until purchasing his own place in Pawnee County in 1952. He sold the farm in 1967 and moved to Ogallala where he worked for George Booth Roofing of North Platte. He was employed at TRW and in 1969 went to work for Ogallala Public Schools. He worked as a janitor at the Junior High building, retiring in 1995.

On June 16, 1973 he was united in marriage to Sandy Bennett at the Ogallala Kingdom Hall.

Dorvan enjoyed working livestock and raising quarter horses. He especially enjoyed training colts at the Pawnee County Family Farm.

He served as Elder in the Ogallala Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
 
Dorvan is survived by two daughters; Cheryl (John) Basel, of Olpe, KS; Terri Watkins, of Hiawatha, KS; two grandsons; Justin (Janelle) Watkins, of Denison, KS; Jerod (Danielle) Watkins, of Horton, KS; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy; his parents; eight sisters; Leona Linn, Zella Percevial, Twila Rettele, Evelyn Brown, Hazel Christie, Mary McKenny, Loretta Holton, Velma Meyer; and one brother, Clifford Johnson. 
 
The family chose cremation.

Memorial Service via Zoom will be 1:30 pm  Saturday,  June 5, 2021. To join the memorial service, call Kingdom Hall at 308-284-0883 and ask for the ID number and passcode for the virtual funeral.
