Johnny "John" Ray Beard, age 74, of Ogallala, NE, passed away, Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his home in Ogallala.
John was born November 29, 1946 in Denver, CO to Johnnie and Louise (Stice) Beard.
He went to Wheatridge High School in Wheatridge, CO, until joined the Army in 1966. John was Honorably Discharged in 1967.
John met Lynda Cockerill in Denver and they were united in marriage on September 20, 1967 in Wheatridge.
The two of them made their home in Arvada, CO, where he worked in road construction until 1976. They moved to Imperial, NE and he worked for Bud Stinger Ranch. In 1979, they moved north of Paxton where he worked for the Runback Ranch. In 1983 they moved to Grant, working for Haggard Drilling. In 1985 they moved to Ogallala and worked for Union Pacific. In 1994, John went into trucking and eventually purchased his own truck. He retired in 2013 due to health.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.
John is survived by his wife; Lynda Beard, of Ogallala; two sons; Shawn Beard, of Ogallala; Wade (Lynda) Beard, of Ohiowa, NE; daughter; Tanya (Daryl) Webster, of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters; Mary Moore, of Ogallala; Linda Smith, of Las Cruces, NM; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Friday, March 26, 2021 from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. in the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala.
