June Sherman, age 86, of Genoa, NE formerly of Brule, NE, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Genoa Long Term Care Center in Genoa, NE.
June Sherman was born June 16, 1933 in Elsmere in Brown County, NE to Lewis and Velma (Crawford) Hartgrave.
June attended school in Ainsworth and graduated from High School in 1953. She was employed in several Ainsworth cafes. June met Ken Sherman and they were united in marriage on December 8, 1961 in Ainsworth. They resided in Shelton before moving to Brule in 1967. In April of 2018, June moved to the Genoa Long Term Care Center to be close to her son, Tom.
She worked in several area cafes including Mac's Trailside Cafe in Brule for many years. June also had a day care service in her Brule home.
June was a member of the United Church of Christ, First Congregational of Brule. Her hobbies included bowling, sewing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her parents; her brothers; Francis, Robert, and Charles; and a sister, Ella Sherman; 4 brother-in-laws; Howard, Harold, Morris, and Jim Sherman.
June is survived by her children; Barb (Steve) Brown, of Minatare; Randy (Leslie) Sherman, of Porter, TX; Tom (Susie) Sherman, of Genoa; 2 sisters; Betty Sherman, of Brule; Louise Sherman, of Ainsworth; 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be, Thursday, December 12, 2019, from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. in the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel with family greeting friends from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2019 at the United Church of Christ, First Congregational of Brule with Rev. Lisa Hadler officiating.
Burial will take place in the Brule Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Brule Community Center and the United Church of Christ, First Congregational of Brule.
