LeRoy Dale Eichner

LeRoy Dale Eichner, 93, of Ogallala, NE passed away Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala. 

LeRoy was born on August 2, 1929 in Ogallala to Herman and Anna (Lunenburg) Eichner. LeRoy grew up on a farm north of Roscoe, NE and attended school in Ogallala.  

On October 15, 1949 LeRoy married Lois Elaine Booze in Kansas. A short time after getting married the couple returned to Nebraska to the Eichner family farm north of Roscoe. Together they had two sons Larry in 1950 and Steven in 1955. 

In 1977, LeRoy and Lois purchased the Midwest Motel in Ogallala.  The couple owned and operated it until 1985 when they sold it and moved to the big city of Las Vegas, Nevada. While living in Las Vegas, LeRoy and Lois worked at Circus Circus. Lois worked as a gift shop clerk and LeRoy as a security guard. LeRoy worked for many years at the casino before he retired. 

LeRoy and Lois lived and enjoyed the city of lights for many years together. After LeRoy’s wife passed in 2008 and his son Steven passed away in 2009, LeRoy moved to Texas to be with his eldest son Larry. LeRoy resided in Kingsland, TX for a few years before moving into Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls, TX, where he resided until 2017 when his son Larry passed away. Afterward, LeRoy returned to Ogallala to be close to his sister Ruth (Eichner) Johnson. 

LeRoy resided at Indian Hills Manor from 2017 to 2023. 

He is preceded in death by; his parents Herman & Anna Eichner, his sister Ruth (Eichner) Johnson, brother-in-law Melvin Johnson, sons Larry and Steven Eichner, and grandsons Bryan and Timothy Eichner. 

He is survived by; grandsons Jarret (Jamee) Eichner, Jeff (Jamie) Eichner, both of North Platte, NE, Eric (Heather) Eichner of Las Vegas; and granddaughter Donette (Matthew) Reinhart of Ogallala, NE; Great Grandchildren Jonathan (Kayla) Borgmann, Daniel (Amanda) Eichner, Jacob Eichner, Jacque Eichner, Michael Eichner, and Adam Yonker, all of North Platte, NE, Jocelyn Horn of Ogallala, NE, Alexandra Maier of Lexington, NE, Jennifer Ochadleus-Campbell of Las Vegas, NV, Allison Peña of Denver, CO, Shawn Peña of Cedar City, UT, several Great-Great grandchildren, and many cousins.

The family chose cremation and interment to be held at a later date at the Ogallala Cemetery when LeRoy, Lois, Steven, and Larry will be brought to their final resting place together.
