Lennes Jackson Obituary

Lennes Lee Jackson, age 90, passed away peacefully August 17, 2019.

Lennes was born in Oshkosh, NE, to Gilbert "Mac" and Ella (Crook) McGaw on June 6, 1929.

As a child, she moved with family to Sheridan, WY where her father was a meteorologist at the Sheridan airport. She graduated from Sheridan High School and went on to graduate from secretarial school. She married Bill Jackson Dec. 25, 1950. In 1963 the family moved to St. Paul, MN so that Bill could pursue his PhD. Lennes worked as a secretary at the University of MN student housing office saving for the down payment on a house which was bought in 1968 in Roseville, MN. She lived there for 50 yrs. Many summers were spent in the Tetons in a little cabin at the Blackrock Ranger Station where Lennes held down the fort with the family while Bill worked as a ranger naturalist. Lennes worked for Roseville Area Schools in driver’s education, the computer software company NCR as a secretary typist, and lastly as church secretary at New Life Presbyterian Church, from which she retired.

Living at her little house in Roseville she kept an immaculate and beautiful yard and flower garden. She could always be found outside in all kinds of weather tending the flowers and, in the fall, picking up ‘all the leaves in the yard daily’ without fail. She so loved being outside as it gave her much pleasure.

Her house was always a nonstop gathering place at any time of day for friends, relatives, neighbors, and family. She enjoyed a cup of coffee or a snack and lively conversation. All were welcome. To her delight the grandkids and great grandkids all carried the tradition of coming to her house bringing their friends to visit Grandma J. It was always a houseful. She so enjoyed everyone. Holidays were held at her house with kids filling every corner. Lennes loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren so deeply.

Lennes will be remembered for her unconditional love of others, patriotism, love of Minnesota sports, and her green thumb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur (Bill) Jackson; and 3 brothers; Wayne, Bruce and Charlie.

Lennes is survived by children, William (Mike) (Darla) Jackson, Steve Jackson and Kelly (Bill) Bossard; grandchildren, Maren, Shannon, Jason, Travis, Megan, Natalie, David and Kiersten; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home, Shoreview MN.

Burial will be at the Paxton Cemetery, Paxton, NE on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest near other family members.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Como Park Conservatory, 1225 Estabrook Dr., Saint Paul, MN 55103. Special thanks to the staff at Cardigan Ridge Senior Living for their love and compassion in her last days. She will be so missed by all.
