Phyllis Peak, 84 of Paxton departed her earthly life on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, NE.
She was born May 23, 1939, and grew up on her grandparents’ farm south of Paxton. She attended Keith County School District 16 (a one-room school House) through the eighth grade. Upon graduating from the eighth grade, she attended and graduated from the Paxton Consolidated School, Phyllis Graduated in 1957. She then attended Kearney State College in Kearney.
Phyllis taught in a rural school south of Paxton and later in the Grant Elementary School.
While her two boys were growing up she was a “stay-at-home mom” enjoying all their activities and accomplishments. After the boys were gone from home she worked at Foulks Pipe/Paxton Equipment, the Bank of Paxton, and Paxton Consolidated Schools.
She was a lifetime member of the Paxton United Methodist Church and she enjoyed volunteering at the Paxton Public Library. Her family, pets, books, and school were the passions of her life.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ali and Alice Steudler, parents George and Edith Steudler, a sister Loretta Reigenborn, daughter-in-law Kristi Peak, and her granddaughter Rhiannon Peak.
She is survived by her sons, Vance Peak of Paxton, and Michael (Kelly) Peak of Kearney, and her granddaughters, Tory of Omaha and Sydney (Jarrett) Johnston, and great-grandson Cooper of Lincoln. A niece, Toni Klocker, and two nephews, Rodney Reigenborn and Mark Reigenborn all of Denver.
Memorial Services will be held at the Paxton United Methodist Church in Paxton, NE at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, and will be officiated by Pastor Mark Baldwin with inurnment to follow at the Paxton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Paxton Consolidated Schools, United Methodist Church, the Paxton Library, or donor’s choice are suggested.
