Rocky Stewart Obituary

Rocky Lyn Stewart 67, of Sutherland, Nebraska passed away at home on April 20th, 2022.

Rocky was born May 22nd, 1954 to Carl William and Erma Gene Velma (Adams) Stewart in Holyoke, Colorado. He went to kindergarten in Grant, Nebraska. Then moved to O’Neill, Nebraska where he attended school and graduation in 1972 from O’Neill High school.

Rocky joined the United States Marines September 28th, 1972 he was a rifleman and was discharged September 27th, 1978 with a good conduct medal. He was in the Honor Guard in Washington DC from 1973 to 1975. Rocky then went on to working for the Texas Department of Corrections from 1975 to 1982. He then went to work for Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte, Nebraska in 2004 until 2021 when he retired as a Train Conductor.

On December 9th, 2010 Rocky married Jackie Moran. He had many hobbies and one was his love for riding Harley’s, he also loved fishing, hunting, camping and anything outdoors. He loved cooking, music, and just spending time with family and friends, some who were lucky enough to give him the nickname Creampuff.

Rocky is survived by his mother Erma Gene, his wife Jackie Stewart; three daughters, Colleen (Mike) Cornelius and their children Maggie and Macy; Amanda Carol Harlemen and her daughters, Shelbie and Faith Harlemen, Alexandria (Justin) Jaster ; Cheyenne (Katie) and their son Archer Stewart; one son Joshua and his children, Jayden and Cashton Stewart; Stepsons, Dan(Heather) Piersol and their Children Jack and Laura Piersol ; Corey( Sarah) Piersol and their children, Kori and Lincoln Piersol and Jayden, Jerrica and Jaleigh Curtis; Brandon(Robin) Piersol; and their children Alyssia, and Gary Piersol; two brothers, Ron (Teresa) Stewart; Rodney(Barbara) Stewart; Two Brother in law’s Vernon Moran; Ron (Vickie) Moran; Sister in law Tammy (Dick) Simonson. Great Granddaughter Addalynn Jaster and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Rocky is preceded in death by his father Carl Stewart; sister Carla Jean Stewart; Grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Cremation has been chosen by the family.

A graveside service will be held May 3rd, 2022, 11:00 AM (Central Time) at Fort McPherson Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Military honors.
