Ronald Most Obituary

Ronald J. Most, 87 of rural Ogallala, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Ron was born on December 27, 1935, in Ogallala, Nebraska to Fred and Elizabeth Most (Blomenkamp). Ron attended School District 22 and Ogallala High School graduating with the class of 1953. Ron was a captain in the ARNG (National Guard) from 1956-1966. He attended boot camp in Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

On April 10, 1955, Ron was united in marriage to Kathleen Smith at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala. The family made their home on the original homestead. To this union, three children were born: Sheila (Dave) Watson, Sheri (Bill) Blauwiekel, and Gregg (Stephanie) Most. As the family grew Ron and Kathy enjoyed the following grandkids: Amber (Daniel) Gleasure, Alicia (special friend Matt Friedman) Watson, Tara (Clara) Blauwiekel, Troy Blauwiekel, Trapper (Katrina) Most, Tyler (Sarah) Most, and Elizabeth (Craig) Kaiser. They also have 14 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was in FFA in High School and continued that passion as a farmer/rancher. He loved raising livestock. Ron farmed/ranched with his brothers as Most Brothers and then his son and grandsons. The Most Brothers received the Twin Platte NRD Conservation Award in 1994. Most Brothers also received the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award in 1995 for 100 years of continuous family ownership.

Ron thoroughly enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Dwaine and Kenneth Most, one sister Harreette Kurkowski, two grandchildren Tabitha and Katie Most, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice and Jerry Hansmeier.

He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was baptized on October 18, 1936, and confirmed on May 22, 1949. Ron was an elder and treasurer of St John’s Lutheran Church for many, many years.

Visitation will be Friday, October 27th, 2023 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala, NE.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at 2:00 P.M., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala, NE with Rev. Albert Bader officiating.

Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors with Ogallala Honor Guard.

Memorials have been established for St. John’s Lutheran Church and The Orphan Grain Train.
